A day after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stood in front of a crowd of media members and pontificated on the state of officiating, some new information has come to light regarding the penalty on Kansas City Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney.

The hotly debated topic of the day: Was Toney warned by NFL officials about his alignment, which was wrong multiple times throughout the game, before they threw a penalty flag?

The reaction from Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes after the game should be proof enough.

Referee Carl Cheffers said in the pool report after the game that Toney was so egregiously offside that, "this particular one is beyond a warning.”

What we're now hearing from Toney makes it look as if the NFL can't keep their stories straight.

Kadarius Toney says he wasn't warned, but the NFL disagrees:

Toney told reporters on Thursday that the NFL told him on Wednesday that he was warned by the referees during the game. Yet, the receiver insists that he never spoke with referees and that he was never issued a warning during the game. Take a look at the video, courtesy of KSHB-TV reporter Aaron Ladd.

It's truly as if the NFL is trying to use a "Jedi Mind Trick" on Toney and convince him that he was warned by officials to make all of this go away. Instead, they're bungling their facts, and making things that much worse.

The truth of the matter is that the NFL will never admit they have an officiating problem publicly. Admitting that problem will only create more headaches, particularly in the realm of sports betting. If they're going to get things fixed, it'll happen behind closed doors.

As for the Chiefs, like Toney says, "Full spectrum, we're moving forward, we're not thinking about that anymore."
