The Kansas City Chiefs may have gotten the best day three draft pick of every team according to one NFL draft analyst.
The Chiefs were able to walk away from the 2023 NFL Draft with some really good players. Some that they got on day one and two will have an immediate impact. Some on day three may take a bit to get to that level, but you can't deny that the Chiefs know how to draft.
Look at last year as an example. They had rookies across the board, where all but two of 10 guys played key minutes during their Super Bowl run. We could see the same thing this year with this draft class. I mean, heck, one draft expert thinks the Chiefs had the best day three pick.
Daniel Jeremiah, the NFL Network Draft Analyst, tweeted out during the draft on Saturday that the Chiefs had the best, or his favorite, pick on day three in Chamarri Conner, the defensive back out of Virginia Tech.
I'd say it's safe to call Jeremiah an expert, since he is a guy that was once an NFL scout, and has now been covering the draft for several years. I'd also say it's safe to say he kind of knows what he is talking about. If he says it's a good pick, then it must be.
Conner is a guy that played both safety and cornerback in college at Virginia Tech. He was listed as a defensive back in the draft because at the pro level, he can play both. If the Chiefs end up needing another guy who plays the same position and style as L'Jarius Sneed next year, where there is a chance he could leave, then they will have that. If they need a guy to replace Mike Edwards next year after the one year deal is up, they have Conner.
Until then, they have a guy for depth at the cornerback position, and then a guy that can be a great special teams player until he gets his turn. I would have to agree, the pick is amazing.
