Chiefs DT Omarr Norman-Lott helped off field by QB Patrick Mahomes after apparent knee injury, and a dirty play from the Raiders
The Kansas City Chiefs suffered another injury in the Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Maahomes found himself helping an injured teammate to the sideline for the second time during Sunday’s Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Chiefs rookie DT Omarr Norman-Lott suffered an apparent right knee injury late in the third quarter on Sunday. He was on the ground and clutching at his knee after being blocked by Raiders OT Stone Forsythe while he was engaged with another blocker. In true Raider fashion, Forsythe sought to “finish” Norman-Lott and jump on top of him while he was injured. Forsythe was called for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on the play.
Norman-Lott didn’t go to get checked out in the blue tent on the sideline after Mahomes helped him over, going straight down the tunnel and to the locker room with assistance from the training staff. That’s typically not a good sign. Norman-Lott has struggled to stay healthy to this point in his NFL career, with an ankle injury and a shoulder injury causing him to miss separate games already this season.
The team eventually ruled him questionable to return to the game, but make no mistake, with the 31-0 score, he won’t be returning, whether he’s healthy enough to return or not.
Chiefs running out of Tennessee Volunteers
Wanya Morris might want to be careful in the fourth quarter because the Chiefs are running out of former Tennessee Volunteers players. The Chiefs have three Vols on their 53-man roster, and two of them have already been injured in Week 7 against the Raiders. RG Trey Smith suffered a back injury in the first half of the game against the Raiders and was officially ruled out of the game in the second half. Now, rookie DT Omarr Norman-Lott is dealing with a lower-body injury and is unlikely to return to the game at this point, given the score, regardless of his injury situation. Morris replaced RT Jawaan Taylor (shoulder) in the fourth quarter as backups began to replace starting players for Kansas City.
