The 2023 NFL Draft was one that was what the kids call "lit." It was held in the city of the 2022 Super Bowl champions, and the fans showed up and showed out. Not only was it a party all three days for the fans, but the Chiefs killed the draft too, bringing in some really good picks.

They started day 1 with 10 total picks and by day three they had seven players that would be joining the team in 2023. Five of those picks were defense and two of them were offense, which seems about right when you think about what the Chiefs need.

The draft class was good on paper, but now we have to see if it will actually be good. That's where OTAs come in, or organized team activities. For the Chiefs, they start OTAs on May 22 and the last day is June 9, but there are days in between those two dates that they have off. Even though these workouts are voluntary, we can see some guys run with the starters that maybe didn't last year or we didn't expect to. We could even see if any of the rookies will be starters or running with the ones.

One of the guys that were drafted on day three has a real shot to run with the starters during OTAs. Chamarri Conner, the Chiefs' fourth-round pick, has a real shot to run with the ones, and it's really simple why – he is going to be a four-phase special teamer.

Conner is a defensive back out of Virginia Tech, but he is a guy that will see the field mostly as a special teamer, and that's okay. He is good at special teams and can do all four things that teams prioritize. Now, that's not to say eventually Conner can't play on the defensive side of the ball for the Chiefs, because he can one day. But, right now it's too jam-packed, especially with last year's draft class.

He will be running with the ones in some way come May 22. It could be as a gunner, a returner, a blocker, or even a kick or punt blocker. Conner will play wherever the Chiefs need him to play, and he will fit in well. Because it's voluntary, there could be some guys not show up, so it almost guarantees he will have some snaps with the ones.
