Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes isn't just known for his incredible play on the field, but also his charitable work off of it.
On Wednesday, Mahomes and his wife Brittany announced via the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation a multi-year commitment to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The multi-year commitment includes a $1.625 million contribution to support the Boys & Girls Clubs in the Greater Kansas City area, along with Lubbock, Tyler, and Whitehouse, Texas.
“We are truly excited to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of America by investing in the future of children,” Patrick Mahomes said, via press release. “Kids who attend a Club, like Brittany once did, are provided with the necessary tools and resources to help this generation not only thrive but lead with compassion and purpose.”
In addition to the $1.625 million contribution, the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation will donate $1500 dollars for every touchdown Mahomes scores during the regular season. He's already thrown eight touchdowns this season and is pacing to land somewhere in the mid-30s in terms of passing touchdowns.
“This meaningful partnership will expand opportunities for kids everywhere, and the places that have positively impacted Patrick and me,” said Brittany Mahomes. “We are committed to doing all we can to uplift others.”
Speaking to media members ahead of practice on Wednesday, Mahomes said he felt it was the perfect partnership for the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.
"The partnership with Boys & Girls Club, it's something where I remember practicing basketball at Boys & Girls Clubs growing up and how fun that was," Mahomes said. "It was a great experience. I got to meet people and (had) opportunities to play sports that I loved. I thought it was a great idea to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs . . . all the areas that I grew up in and give those same opportunities to kids. I thought it fit perfectly with my 15 and the Mahomies Foundation."
