Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has done it again.
In 2020, he became the fastest NFL QB to reach 10,000 passing yards. In 2021, he became the fastest NFL QB to reach 15,000 passing yards. In 2022, he became the fastest NFL QB to reach 20,000 passing yards. Can you guess what happened in 2023?
In 2023, Mahomes can now say that he's the fastest QB in NFL history to reach 25,000 career passing yards.
Making NFL history is what Mahomes does, plain and simple.
Entering the game, Mahomes had 24,772 career passing yards in 82 career games. With 228 passing yards against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Mahomes has hit the 25,000 mark quicker than any other player in NFL history. Matthew Stafford previously held the mark at 90 games. Mahomes was able to accomplish this feat in seven fewer games than Stafford.
It took former Dolphins QB Dan Marino 92 games to reach 25,000 career passing yards. It took former Rams QB Kurt Warner and former Colts QB Peyton Manning 97 games to reach 25,000 career passing yards. It's just another reminder that we're watching one of the best to ever do it.
Mahomes can also become the quickest player to 200 career touchdown passes (84 games). He needs just one more after recording three in Week 3 against the Bears. He'll pass Marino (89 games) who was the previous quickest to 200 passing scores.
