Luka Dončić made his emotional return to Dallas on Wednesday night as the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Mavericks. And with that, one very big Mavericks fan was in attendance.
Patrick Mahomes was there to cheer on Dallas, but after the game, he and Dončić shared a very sweet moment, embracing on the court following the Lakers win. After seeing Mahomes, Dončić then went over to hug Mark Cuban, a minority owner in the Mavericks.
Following the trade in the beginning of February, Mahomes immediately took to X, formerly known as Twitter, with his reaction,
"Wait what?," Mahomes wrote.
"I'm sick rn….," he added.
Mahomes was born and raised in Texas, so it's no surprise that his favorite team is the Mavericks. And it's clear both he and the entire fanbase miss their former star guard.
Luka Dončić Gets Emotional During The Mavericks Tribute Video in his Return
Dončić was selected by the Mavericks with the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, and proceeded to spend over six seasons with Dallas.
His trade to the Lakers took many by surprise, but it's clear that there is still a lot of love between the two sides. And that showed on Wednesday as the Mavericks played an emotional tribute video.
As Dončić watched, he got very emotional and was even seen wiping some tears away before he took the court. In his return to American Airlines Center, he finished with 25 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
