During the team's Week 4 win over the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes became the franchise's statistical leader for a stat that he isn't exactly known for.

Mahomes recorded 51 rushing yards on seven runs against the Jets on Sunday night. That yardage brought his career total to 1,701 yards, which is good for the most career rushing yardage by a quarterback in Chiefs franchise history.

"I've told a lot of people, I'm faster than people think," Mahomes said after the game. "I don't run pretty, so people think I'm slow. But I move a little bit better than people think."

Mahomes surpassed the previous record holder, his mentor Alex Smith, who had set the record at 1,672. Smith and Len Dawson are the only other quarterbacks in franchise history with over 1,000 career rushing yards.

It's only fitting that Mahomes’ fourth-quarter heroics helped the Chiefs secure the 23-20 win in New York. He spoke about the 24-yard rush on third-and-22, which kept the team's drive alive and gave them a chance to ice the game.

"The offensive line, first off, did a good job blocking," Mahomes said of the play. "That pass rush is one of of the top in the NFL, if not the top. It kind of opened up, but there was a lot of attention on Travis (Kelce). Once he kind of went to the right, he took like three people with him and it opened up for me."

Only one thing can slow the reigning league MVP down and teams just aren't too keen on doing it given how deadly Mahomes can be as a passer.

"Like I said, I'm a little faster than people think I am," Mahomes told reporters. "Maybe one day I'll get a spy. That's my goal, If I get a spy, I'll know I've made it."

When Chiefs LB Drue Tranquill stepped to the podium, he was able to back Mahomes up on that fact by taking a shot at his former team.

"Yeah, (the Los Angeles Chargers) didn't spy him for four years and we paid the price," Tranquill quipped.
