The Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots are set to square off at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts for Week 15 of the 2023 NFL season.
This AFC conference rivalry goes way back, with these two storied franchises meeting 39 times since 1960. The Chiefs lead the all-time series 20-16-3, but the two teams haven't played all that often recently with their last game against the Patriots coming in 2020. The last time they played New England, Kansas City's equipment got delayed on the way to Massachusetts and the team was almost forced to forfeit the game. Hopefully, things will be a little bit more normal this time around.
Here's a quick breakdown of the inactive players for this game:
Chiefs inactive players:
- OT Donovan Smith
- RB Isiah Pacheco
- CB Joshua Williams
- DT Matt Dickerson
- DT Neil Farrell Jr.
- DE BJ Thompson
- DL Malik Herring
Patriots inactive players:
- RB Rhamondre Stevenson
- OT Trent Brown
- WR Kayshon Boutte
- WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
- CB Shaun Wade
- DE Sam Roberts
Observations:
CB Joshua Williams is inactive due to illness. He was a late addition to the injury report on Sunday morning. Rookie CB Nic Jones will be active for the first time in the past three weeks as a result.
LT Wanya Morris is set to make his second career start.
Both RB Deneric Prince and DT Mike Pennel (standard elevations via the practice squad) will be active. DT Matt Dickerson is inactive in place of Pennel. This will mark Pennel's season debut and first game with Kansas City since Super Bowl LV.
The Chiefs made OG Mike Caliendo active because they didn't have a choice. The NFL requires that teams have eight offensive linemen active on game day.
New England is without starting RB Rhamondre Stevenson, but they've got a solid backup in Zeke Elliott.
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster will not play against his former team due to an ankle injury.
Chiefs pay the price for criticizing NFL officiating
A pair of Kansas City Chiefs have caught fines from the NFL for criticizing officiating after the Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
