Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney apologized to fans on Sunday after a critical miscue in KC's win against the Denver Broncos.
In the second quarter, Toney fumbled a punt return that gave the Broncos excellent field position.
On the very next play after the fumble, Russell Wilson faked a handoff and scampered into the end zone for a 16-yard touchdown.
Wilson's score gave Denver a 10-6 lead.
After the game, Toney sent a tweet apologizing for the fumble.
"I gotta be better with securing that ball, my apologies," wrote Toney.
That's definitely something that shouldn't happen. And it very nearly cost the Chiefs the game.
But mistakes in sports. As a player, you have to be accountable, but you have to flush it and move on to the next play, too.
Toney needs to work on that ball security, but good on him for taking responsibility for a crucial mistake.
