The Kansas City Chiefs have made a pair of roster moves ahead of their wild-card round game against the Miami Dolphins. The Chiefs announced on Saturday that they had elevated DT Mike Pennel and CB Keith Taylor from the practice squad ahead of tonight's game.
You might be thinking, "Didn't Pennel exhaust his practice squad elevations?" You'd be right about that line of thinking, too. Pennel was elevated to the 53-man roster three times during the regular season. The NFL resets practice squad elevations for the playoffs, giving Pennel a fresh set of three practice squad elevations.
In his three games played, Pennel played 45 total defensive snaps. He recorded four total tackles, a tackle for loss, and two stops during those snaps. He's mostly going to be on the field during clear rushing downs.
As for Taylor's elevation, this marks the first time this season that the veteran defensive back has been called up. L'Jarius Sneed, Jaylen Watson, and Deon Bush are all on the injury report this week, but they're all expected to play. This likely has more to do with special teams and the fact that Justyn Ross is questionable going into the game with a hamstring injury.
Chiefs injury update: One player ruled out, two questionable for wild-card round
The Kansas City Chiefs ruled out a single player and listed two others as questionable for the playoff game against the Miami Dolphins.
