Three Kansas City Chiefs players lead the NFL in their respective positions in Pro Bowl fan voting.
However, there's one name missing from that list that may shock some: quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In fact, Mahomes' votes don't even rank second in the AFC.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa is the one who currently leads the AFC in Pro Bowl voting, with Texans QB C.J. Stroud coming in second. Cowboys QB Dak Prescott leads quarterbacks on the NFC side.
Mahomes' absence is less indicative of his own performance this year — after all, his NFL MVP odds are still top five at most sportsbooks — but rather evidence of the team's overall offensive struggles. Issues with penalties, miscommunication among players and, of course, receiver drops have all played a part in dropping Mahomes' numbers this season from a typical top-three to simply a respectable top 10.
With that in mind, two Chiefs offensive players managed to lead their voting positions, along with one defender. Let's take a look.
Travis Kelce's 'down year' is still elite
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is pacing for 1,182 yards receiving this season, which, by his standards, would be his second-lowest total since 2017.
But, by all standards, 1,182 is still vastly an elite number for a tight end, and his current number of 813 leads all other NFL tight ends. That's why Kelce managed to score the most Pro Bowl fan votes at his position. Though, it's possible that Swifties may have had something to do with it as well.
Creed is still good
Speaking of "down years," Chiefs center Creed Humphrey is, by definition, having a down year, with his lowest PFF grade in his three-year career. However, PFF is subjective, and Humphrey's grade is still better than the majority of the NFL's anyway.
Humphrey's consistent performance as one of the league's top centers earned him top Pro Bowl fan voting honors for the AFC, while Eagles center Jason Kelce tops the NFC's center list.
Chris Jones proves the contract year remains undefeated
To round things out for Kansas City, defensive lineman Chris Jones leads the way in defensive tackle voting for the AFC, while 49ers DT Javon Hargrave leads the NFC.
Jones, who did not sign a long-term deal with the Chiefs in the offseason and missed Week 1 due to a holdout, is second on the Chiefs in sacks with 7.5 and is on pace for yet another double-digit sack season. Jones' continually dominant performance shows that, even approaching 30 years old, it's time to pay the man (again).
Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid warn NFL of Chiefs rookie set to start Bills game
The Kansas City Chiefs could have a new starter at left tackle in Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills.
