Playing football is one of the most dangerous and dumbest things you can do to your body. If we are being real, it's actually not healthy. However, it does something for some guys. Some players can't stay away from the sport, and you must respect that.
Because of how violent the sport is, injuries happen far too often. Great players, guys in pristine shape, some of the most elite athletes in the world, even get hurt. Justyn Ross, the Chiefs' former undrafted wide receiver, was one of those guys who has dealt with his fair share of injuries.
Ross, a standout receiver at Clemson, was supposed to be one of the higher-drafted receivers in the draft, no matter what class he was going to be drafted with. However, injuries during his college career made the dream of being drafted, and hearing his name called on stage was still a dream.
The Chiefs saw something in Ross and signed him immediately, as soon as the draft was over. He was all set to play last year, but in training camp, he injured his foot and was set to miss the entire Super Bowl season. Now, after rehabbing and just working his butt off every day. Ross is ready, and he showed that in his first-ever NFL game on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
"Yeah, that was awesome," quarterback Shane Buechele told the media when asked how it felt to be a part of the play. "Just seeing the smile on his face after he caught that ball was the best part. He did a great job of running the route and just executing the play, and I was happy for him. It was awesome."
Buechele made the throw that was Ross' first touchdown since he was in college over two years ago. To be a part of that moment had to feel special, and Buechele had a few of his own moments as well.
