If Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice's rookie campaign hasn't already been impressive enough, he has a chance to make history on Sunday in Super Bowl LVIII.

Rice, who currently has 20 receptions for 223 yards and one touchdown in the 2023-24 postseason, can break the rookie record for most postseason receptions this Sunday. The catch? Well, he needs six of them.

The current record-holder for the most postseason receptions by a rookie is Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase, who accomplished the feat by snagging 25 catches during the 2021-22 playoffs. Chase also holds the rookie record for most postseason receiving yards by rookie with 368. Rice would need a huge Super Bowl to accomplish that: 146 yards, to be exact.

While the yards record is certainly attainable if Rice goes off like he did in the wild-card round against the Miami Dolphins (130 yards), the receptions record is much more likely. Rice had eight receptions in two separate playoff games this year, so six certainly seems like a reachable goal.

Rice became one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' favorite targets this season. Rice nabbed 79 receptions for 938 yards receiving and seven touchdowns in 2023. The receptions and TDs were Chiefs rookie records, while the yards came in second behind Dwayne Bowe's rookie season number of 995.

However, the one thing Rice has over Bowe's rookie season is the playoff numbers, making Rice the best Chiefs rookie receiver of all time. Kansas City's hope is that Rice can carry that momentum into an even stronger sophomore season, but right now the team is just looking for a dominant showing in the biggest game of the year this Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
