Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman was an unlikely hero in Super Bowl LVIII.

After not contributing much at all leading up to the big game, Hardman caught three passes for 57 yards and the game-winning touchdown against the San Fransisco 49ers to help Kansas City secure its second-straight championship.

After the game, Hardman told NFL Network's post-game show that he blacked out after making the game-sealing catch. Hardman joined NFL Network once again on Thursday and went into detail with NFL Total Access' host Andrew Siciliano about the play call and his reaction afterwards.

Hardman told Siciliano that running back Jerick McKinnon was supposed to be the first option on the play, which we've already heard from coach Andy Reid. When 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa blew up that option, Hardman was able to get to the boundary unnoticed, except of course by his quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Hardman was then asked if he actually blacked out after making the catch or if he just didn't know the overtime rules, like many of the 49ers' players. Hardman reiterated that he did black out for a moment but knew that his team had just won the game. He echoed what many Chiefs players have said – that the team thoroughly goes through those type of situations during meetings, examining all scenarios.

Hardman also made the point that the NFL changed the overtime rules because of the Chiefs. With how cool and confident the Chiefs' offense was during that moment, their preparation definitely reflects that. As for Hardman, he'll soon turn his attention to free agency. It's not out of the question that he could return to K.C., but the receiver position will be very fluid for the Chiefs this offseason.
