Chiefs are going to release Pro Bowl DE Frank Clark
Many already assumed this would happen.
Based off his contract, it was pretty easy to see why many expected Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark to become a cap casualty.
Cutting Clark saves the team $21 million in cap space, which is also much-needed cap space, as they are already just short of $1 million over the cap, per Spotrac.
Well, sure enough, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday the Chiefs are expected to release Clark after neither side could come to an agreement on a reworked contract.
Clark started his career with the Chiefs in 2019, when they traded for him from Seattle after losing Dee Ford and Justin Houston. Clark has 23.5 sacks with the Chiefs and is one of the premier players in the franchise's postseason history.
Clark's a big deal when it comes to NFL postseason history, as well. This is evidenced by the fact that he's third all-time in postseason sacks and just three short of first.
