The Kansas City Chiefs have a special tradition their fans follow, in which they have a new team flag every year. This year, instead of dropping the flag on "Red Friday" like they usually do, it will be happening on Wednesday.
According to the team's website, the club has announced that the traditional Red Friday celebration to start the football season will become Red Wednesday and will take place on Wednesday, September 6, the day before the first game of the year against the Detroit Lions.
Over the past nine years, the sale of Red Friday flags has raised more than $4.5 million. This year the donations are going toward Ronald McDonald House charities.
This year the flag looks much different, mainly because it features something the Chiefs weren't able to put on their flag last season. It reads Super Bowl Champions.
