Chiefs rookie is already proving some of the draft narratives wrong and he hasn't played a real game yet

The Kansas City Chiefs took a bit of a risk in the 2024 NFL Draft. We all knew they were going to target a wide receiver in the draft, and knew there would be a strong possibility they did it in the first round, but going after the fastest guy in the draft was not something that we knew.
The Chiefs grabbing Worthy was a bit of a dream for fans, and then it came true, but as I said, it was still a bit of a risk. Let's be honest: Worthy is not the biggest receiver in the world. In fact, he's kind of tiny when it comes to his frame, so, as you know, the draft narratives started to form.
He's too small to play in the NFL, he's going to easily get hurt, he's not going to be able to win jump balls, he's not going to be able to beat aggressive corners off the line that press and use their hands — all of that and more is said. Of course, Worthy has yet to play in an NFL game yet. Yes, he has played in preseason but it's a big jump between the regular season and preseason.
But from what we have seen in training camp, Worthy is proving some of those narratives wrong. Let's not forget that this is a top-three defense in the league he is going up against every day. So, he is going to see the best, and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is going to draw up some things to specifically take Worthy out of the picture.
But even going against this defense, Worthy has made some really good plays. One of them just so happened to be a catch that he had to muscle through and get physical with the defender in order to win the rep, something that draft analysts said he wouldn't be able to do.
This is a grown man catch, as they say. He just wanted it more, and he went up and got it and was able to pull it down. Now, yes, this is practice, so we won't get too ahead of ourselves, but you have to admit, it's a nice play, to say the least. Maybe this guy could be up for Offensive Rookie of the Year when it's all said and done this season.
Chiefs are making the right call when it comes to WR Xavier Worthy’s minor hamstring injury
Holding Xavier Worthy out of practice remains the right call for the Kansas City Chiefs.
