The Kansas City Chiefs have announced a flurry of roster moves on Saturday ahead of their Week 14 tilt with the Buffalo Bills.

There was nothing too unexpected given the team's current injury situation and roster needs. The transactions included placing a defender on injured reserve, activating a star player from injured reserve, and a pair of standard elevations from the practice squad.

What moves were made exactly? We break it down below:

Nick Bolton's activation comes at perfect time

As expected, the Chiefs activated LB Nick Bolton to the 53-man roster from injured reserve. He was a full participant in practice every day this week, which was a strong indicator that his return was near. He's getting back on the field at the perfect time for Kansas City, as Drue Tranquill was ruled out this week with a concussion. Had Bolton not been activated, it would have been LB Jack Cochrane wearing the green dot.

Cochrane will be the backup to Bolton in this game. That said, they're much better off with Bolton starting against a savvy offensive team such as Buffalo. His return should bring a level of order and poise to the defense a week after they surrendered a season-high in points.

Bryan Cook to injured reserve

While Cook reportedly avoided broken bones in Week 13, he suffered an ankle sprain in an ankle that had been surgically repaired before. It was expected that he'd land on injured reserve, which means the second-year safety will be out for a minimum of four weeks before he can be designated to return. He could be out even longer depending on the extent of his ankle sprain.

The likelihood of Cook making a return during the regular season is slim, but the team has a chance to get him back if they make an extended playoff run.

Two practice squad elevations

Andy Reid tipped his hand on one of these standard elevations on Friday. He told reporters that rookie RB Deneric Prince would be up for the Week 14 game against the Bills. Here's what he had to say about Prince's progress:

“He’s (Deneric Prince) done a good job, smart kid. He’s more comfortable with the offense than he was in the preseason where he had to go. We have confidence in him. (He’s a) good catcher, big kid that can run.”

Prince was elevated and active in Week 13 but played no snaps in that game. Without Isiah Pacheco, it's safe to assume he'll see some action in Week 14 to get his feet wet.

As for the elevation of Deon Bush, expect this has more to do with special teams than anything else. The veteran safety played the second-most special teams snaps of any player in Kansas City last year. His presence will be a big boost for Dave Toub's unit.
