The Kansas City Chiefs continue to tinker with their practice squad with Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season just around the corner.
According to the NFL's personnel notice for Friday, the Chiefs have officially signed TE Gerrit Prince to the practice squad. In order to make room for Prince, they released DT Chris Williams from the practice squad. Williams spent all of the 2023 offseason with the team after he was signed back in early May.
We actually identified Prince as a potential addition shortly after roster cuts. Here's what we had to say about him:
Prince attended the Chiefs' local pro day in 2022. A Shawnee Mission Northwest alumnus, Prince is listed at 6-4 and 241 pounds. He boasts the versatility to line up in-line and flex out wide as a receiver. He spent the entire 2022 NFL season on the practice squad with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Working under Doug Pederson could help him get up to speed quickly in Kansas City.
Andy Reid & Co. will get their hand at developing Prince as in the K.C. offense while he's on the practice squad.
Another transaction as the team heads into the holiday weekend:
- The Chiefs waived LB Olakunle Fatukasi from injured reserve. He was waived with an injured designation during 53-man cuts and reverted to injured reserve after clearing waivers. He will become an unrestricted free agent and he'll be free to sign with any team. It initially appeared that he was released with an injury settlement, but it sounds like he may have received some positive injury news and was waived outright.
