The Kansas City Chiefs made several roster moves on Saturday, shortly after Andy Reid revealed that TE Jared Wiley had suffered a season-ending non-contact ACL injury in practice.

The Chiefs wasted little time placing Wiley on injured reserve with his injury. He's now the eighth player to be placed on injured reserve by Kansas City this season. He joins TE Jody Fortson, who was placed on injured reserve with an ACL and meniscus injury earlier this week.

Naturally, the Chiefs have some depth issues at tight end with just three healthy players between the 53-man roster and practice squad (Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, and Peyton Hendershot).

The first move the Chiefs made was to sign Hendershot to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Kansas City acquired Hendershot in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys during 53-man roster cuts. He appeared in just one game for the Chiefs before he was waived and signed to the practice squad.

(Peyton) Hendershot will be brought up, and he'll work in there," Reid said. "He's been taking reps and he's played before, so he'll be okay."

The next move was to reinforce their depth following the injuries. . .

Chiefs sign veteran TE Anthony Firkser to practice squad

The Chiefs are bringing back TE Anthony Firkser, who was just released by the New York Jets. If you don't remember Firkser, the former Harvard standout was originally signed by the Chiefs as a rookie in 2017. He joined the practice squad in November before signing a reserve/future contract with the team after the season. He was waived in April, following the 2018 NFL draft. He spent three seasons with the Titans from 2018-2021 and established himself as a decent threat as a pass-catcher, blocker, and special teamer. He's since hopped around a few different teams, recording 106 career catches for over 1,100 yards and five touchdown grabs. He's played in 58 career regular-season games with four starts.
