The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round next week.

These two teams have plenty of history, both in the regular season and playoffs. The Chiefs defeated Houston 27-19 back in Week 16, which was the second game of playing three in 11 days for each team. Kansas City was able to win all three of those games during that stretch, while the Texans lost two of the three.

The Chiefs currently have a four-game winning streak against Houston, which started back during their memorable 2019 divisional round matchup when K.C. erased a 24-0 deficit and ended up winning by a 51-31 final score. The two then met in the 2020 season opener, with the Chiefs handling business again 34-20.

In 2022 K.C. edged out the Texans in overtime 30-24. Houston, like a lot of teams, have to be sick of losing to the Chiefs. The Texans are coming off a 32-12 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round in which they dominated the second half and intercepted quarterback Justin Herbert four times.

Now, Houston will look to upset the Chiefs on the road and advance to it's first ever AFC Championship Game. The Texans have a ferocious pass rush, finishing fourth in the NFL in sacks during the regular season with 49. However, they only sacked Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes once during their Week 16 meeting.

K.C.'s offense had one of it's better days of the season against Houston on that day, with a balanced attack of 251 passing yards and 124 rushing. The Chiefs will enter next weekend's game with several key starters coming off of over three weeks rest. We'll see if that pays off, or if there's a rust factor.
