Being a quarterback is one of the hardest jobs in any sport; it just doesn't feel like it because you watch the best in the league do it weekly. Patrick Mahomes is the anomaly; he makes everything look so easy, even the behind-the-back pass.

So, when you see a play like the one Shane Buechele made in their first preseason game, you have to respect it. Sure, the Chiefs lost and ended up blowing the comeback by way of an interception; however, there are so many good things to take away from this game.

One of those things is the play that should be discussed on sports TV on Monday morning.

Chiefs' backup QB has Mahomes-like play

While Mahomes was on the sideline, after he and Blaine Gabbert reached their limit on a pitch count, Shane Buechele was channeling his inner 2022 MVP. Mahomes is known for these crazy plays where he evades the rush, dodges a sack, and throws some crazy pass for a touchdown.

This time it was Buechele doing that, and the roles were reversed because Mahomes was the one on the sideline going absolutely wild about what he just saw. Buechele loved the support he got from the sideline.

"No, like I said, just having those guys, those vets when they're happy for you and jumping around as you said, it's always fun seeing them on the sideline and having fun. Then just us on the field when they're happy for us, man, it makes it easy for us to be happy for them, for sure," Buechele told the media after the game.

The play was huge because the Chiefs needed it desperately. They had trouble scoring all game long. Not only that, but the energy changed after that play too, which was the goal.

"You know, coming out of that second half, the message was energy," Buchele continued. "We needed to have better energy on the sideline and on the field, and we were able to put together a couple of drives where we were able to score, and it was kind of cool. It's always fun having those guys pumped up and having energy on the sideline. So that, that was the message going out in the second half."

Buechele had some great plays last season in preseason play too. He played very well on Sunday, and after a play like that, now you just want to see what else he has in store.
