Bailey Zappe has had a lot of ups and downs during his time with the New England Patriots. And it all came to an end on Tuesday when the team waived him as part of final roster cuts.

But it didn't take long for the quarterback to find a new home.

Zappe is reportedly signing with the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports.

Getting to be coached by Andy Reid and play with Patrick Mahomes… it doesn't get much better than that.

While Zappe played the final games of the 2023 season as the starter, the team drafted two quarterbacks and brought in veteran Jacoby Brissett. That all but signaled that his time in New England was coming to an end.

But what finally did it was when Joe Milton III went out in the first preseason game and had an electric performance. That all but solidified him as the third quarterback on the roster over Zappe.

Zappe did get a lot of time in the first preseason game, but only came in for the final drive of the second and third game. He finished the preseason going 15-for-25, throwing for 137 yards.

After being selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Zappe played in 14 games during the last two seasons with the Patriots. And that included eight starts.

He finishes his career with New England going 192-for-304, for a completion percentage of 63.2%. He recorded 2,053 passing yards along with 11 passing touchdowns, but 12 interceptions. On the rushing side, he had 27 carries for 83 yards and one touchdown.

IN: Patrick Mahomes and Carson Wentz

Reaction: The writing was on the wall that these Mahomes and Wentz would be the guys to make it after they both sat during preseason Week 3. There was an off chance that the Chiefs kept three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster with the new emergency third quarterback rules, but that last preseason performance from Chris Oladokun certainly didn't warrant it.
