The Kansas City Chiefs have signed defensive tackle Siaki Ika to their practice squad, per NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
Ika was a 2023 third-round pick by the Cleveland Browns. He spent most of that season on their practice squad, but was activated to the 53-man roster for the final five games – including their wild-card matchup against the Houston Texans. Ika was unable to log a single tackle on 104 snaps played, but did record a pass defensed.
He made the Browns' practice squad again in 2024, but was released in mid-October. Since then, Ika has had two stints on the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad. Ika is a load at 6-foot-3 and 335 pounds who can eat up blockers and clog running lanes. He also moves well for his size, especially coming off the snap of the ball.
Ika was a force during his collegiate years. He started off at LSU and helped the Tigers win the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship. Ika then transferred to Baylor as a sophomore, where he was named the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 2021. He was also named First-Team All-Big 12 that year, and again in 2022.
After a disappointing start to his NFL career, Ika will look to stay on and develop with the Chiefs. If he impresses, he could earn a futures contract from K.C. at the conclusion of the regular season. Ika joins Fabien Lovette Sr. as the only two defensive tackles on the Chiefs' practice squad.
