The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off their bye week and are preparing for a crucial matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week 11.
The Broncos are rolling, winners of their last seven games. The Chiefs are coming off a tough loss to the Buffalo Bills, and are in must-win mode if they’re going to capture their 10th consecutive AFC West division title.
One thing that has been in Kansas City’s favor for most of the season is health. Every player of the active roster but one participated in some capacity during Wednesday’s practice. Remaining healthy will be vital to the Chiefs bouncing back and finishing the season strong. Let’s examine their and Denver’s initial injury reports for the week.
Broncos’ Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | Wednesday |
| CB Patrick Surtain II | Pectoral | DNP |
| RB J.K. Dobbins | Foot | DNP |
| LB Alex Singleton | Illness | DNP |
| LB Jonah Elliss | Hamstring | DNP |
| TE Nate Adkins | Knee | DNP |
| WR Trent Sherfield | Toe | DNP |
| LB Garret Wallow | Hamstring | FP |
| WR Marvin Mims Jr. | Concussion | FP |
| LB Jonathon Cooper | Thumb | FP |
KEY: DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related
Observations:
- Surtain has missed the last two games for the Broncos as he deals with a pectoral injury. His chances of playing on Sunday don’t look great, but he has two more chances to log a practice. Surtain is one of the best CBs in the league, making it a big blow for Denver being without him.
- Dobbins did not practice after injuring his foot last week on a hip-drop tackle against the Las Vegas Raiders. If he can’t play, rookie R.J. Harvey will likely carry the load on Sunday.
- Singleton is another starter that the Broncos could be without against K.C., as he is nursing a hamstring injury.
Chiefs’ Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | Wednesday |
| RB Isiah Pacheco | Knee | DNP |
| DE George Karlaftis | Thump | LP |
| OT Josh Simmons | NIR (Personal) | FP |
| OT Jawaan Taylor | Knee/Shoulder | FP |
| OG Trey Smith | Back | FP |
| S Jaden Hicks | Pectoral | FP |
| DE Charles Omenihu | Ankle | FP |
KEY: DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related
Observations:
- Pacheco was the only player to miss practice on Wednesday as he continues to recover from a knee injury he sustained against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8. He missed the Chiefs’ matchup against the Bills, and is in danger of missing this week against Denver.
- Simmons logged his first practice in over a month after missing time for a personal family matter. Coach Andy Reid said he needs to see how Simmons moves around before committing to him as the starter for Sunday.
- Karlaftis, who wasn’t on the injury report prior to the bye week, was limited on Wednesday with a thumb injury. Karlaftis has been the Chiefs’ most productive pass rusher this season, so his status will be closely monitored.
