Back in early July, the infamous Kansas City Chiefs superfan known as "Chiefsaholic" was arrested and charged in federal court. This came after Xaviar Michael Bubadar aka "Chiefsaholic" made bail and went on the run following his arrest in an alleged bank robbery in Bixby, Oklahoma.
Babudar, 28, was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday, adding more charges to the original federal criminal complaint against him. Babudar was allegedly implicated in a string of bank robberies throughout the Midwest from March through December 2022 (six robberies and two attempts). Police also allege Babudar used casinos to launder stolen cash. Investigators used various information ranging from cell phone data to casino transactions to link Babudar to several unsolved bank heists and the casino scheme.
The new 19-count indictment of Babudar sounds like a criminal-themed rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas."
11 counts of money laundering, four counts of transporting stolen property across state lines, four counts of armed bank robbery, one count of bank theft. . . and a partridge in a pear tree.
Authorities believe that Babudar stole over $700K, and financed his travel to Chiefs' home and away games through his alleged spree of crime. "Chiefsaholic" became known within the Chiefs Kingdom fanbase for his wolf costume that he wore to games and his posts on the website formerly known as Twitter. Fans only discovered his alleged criminal activities when Babudar stopped posting on social media.
Babudar's lawyer, Matthew T. Merryman, released the following statement after the indictment was handed down on Wednesday:
"The government's announcement today of its 19-count indictment provides an unfair and unjust portrayal of Xaviar. The truth is that since 2018 Xaviar Babudar, aka 'ChiefsAholic' has entertained, inspired, unified and motivated Kansas Citians, the Chiefs Kingdom and hundreds of millions of football fans around the globe. It's now the fourth quarter of the most important game of Xaviar's life, and his legal team believes his innocence will ultimately be proven to the public and we are confident that once all of the facts are known that he will be redeemed in the eyes of his supporters, admirers and the Chiefs Kingdom."
