Travis Kelce hit another impressive milestone in the Kansas City Chiefs' win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He became the fastest tight end in NFL history to reach 12,000 receiving yards, completing this in just 172 games.
The record had previously been set by Tony Gonzalez in 210 games.
And on the latest episode of the Kelce Brothers' New Heights podcast, they talked about this accomplishment.
"It's outrageous…That's so impressive," Jason said.
But for Travis, he was more focused on Gonzalez's career.
"'Goddamn, [Gonzalez] played 210 games? What the f***?'" Travis asked.
'Well, he played more than that," Jason replied. "It took him 210 games to get to 12,000."
And the Chiefs tight end gave a major hint about how long he plans to keep playing with his response.
"I don't know if I can… that's almost 40 more games," Travis said. "I don't know if I can play 40 more!"
Kansas City has four games remaining in the regular season but then is scheduled for more, having already clinched a spot in the playoffs. And then next season, there's another 18 regular season games, plus the postseason.
So Kelce is already looking at around 30 more games.
And if his comment is true, then he might not be planning to play past the 2025-26 season.
In April, prior to the start of the 2024 season, Kelce and the Chiefs agreed on a 2-year contract extension to make him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL. So his contract would be over after the 2025 season, and it isn't looking like he plans to sign another.
