The Kansas City Chiefs may have just tipped off a few of their decisions with injured players just hours before kickoff against the Jacksonville Jaguars on “Monday Night Football.”

The Chiefs have elevated a single practice squad player for their Week 5 game with the Jaguars in DT Marlon Tuipulotu. This comes after rookie DT Omarr Norman-Lott missed practice with a shoulder injury and was added to the injury report on Saturday. He received a questionable game status designation.

“Alright, the only one that didn’t practice today was (Omarr Norman-) Lott, Omarr,” Chiefs HC Andy Reid told reporters on Saturday. “He nicked up his shoulder yesterday. We’ll just see how he does here in the next couple of days.”

Asked for more detail, Reid reiterated what he’d already said.

“I think he should be okay,” Reid said. “We’ll see.”

The decision to elevate Tuipulotu indicates that there’s at least a chance that Norman-Lott misses the Week 5 game on Monday. This would be his second missed game of the season after missing the team’s Week 1 contest in Brazil due to an ankle injury. Tuipulotu was also elevated from the practice squad for that game.

Tuipulotu played just three defensive snaps in Week 1. Meanwhile, in three games so far this year, Norman-Lott has amassed six total pressures, three defensive stops, and one sack.

This practice squad elevation actually says a lot about WR Xavier Worthy’s status

The fact that the Chiefs didn’t elevate a wide receiver is a good sign for Xavier Worthy, who was listed as questionable on the injury report on Sunday due to a new ankle injury. It has since been reported that Worthy is dealing with swelling in one of his ankles and is expected to play, but was added to the report out of an abundance of caution. The Chiefs currently have seven receivers on the 53-man roster, but if Worthy were at any risk of missing the game, the team would’ve likely elevated another player at the position just for good measure.
