Day 11 of Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp featured a 10-10-10 practice for the team. That means the players aren’t in pads, and they are working on specific scenarios.

Among those who did not participate in Sunday’s practice were wide receiver Hollywood Brown, tight ends Jake Briningstool and Jared Wiley, linebacker Drue Tanquill, and defensive backs Deon Bush and Kristian Fulton. WR Skyy Moore returned from a hamstring injury, but was limited.

WR Jason Brownlee is a dark horse for the 53-man roster

It has seemed that we’ve had a pretty good idea of the six or seven WRs that will make the Chiefs’ roster. However, Brownlee is not going quietly. He has put together an impressive camp, and caught multiple passes during Sunday’s practice, including a whopping four touchdowns (H/T Nick Jacobs).

If Brownlee carries this momentum into preseason games, the Chiefs may be forced to re-evaluate the bottom of their WR depth chart. He is a 6-foot-3 big-bodied WR who can make contested catches, and he has gotten some run with the first-team offense.

QB Patrick Mahomes continues to emphasize the deep ball

Mahomes and the coaching staff has made no bones about wanting to get back to stretching the field and hitting on big passing plays. He has done that all throughout camp, and today was no exception according to Chiefs reporter Matt McMullen.

Our friend Farzin Vousoughian was able to capture Mahomes’ pass to Worthy deep down the middle.

Heavy focus on redzone, third down situations

Performing well on third down situations and in the redzone are crucial to a team’s success on both sides of the ball. There was a focus on that during Sunday’s practice, and players such as WR Jalen Royals, tight end Noah Gray, and safety Jaden Hicks came up with big plays in those scenarios.
