The biggest NFL news of the day on Tuesday had absolutely nothing to do with final roster cuts.

Instead, the news everyone is talking about is the engagement between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop superstar Taylor Swift.

The couple, who have been dating since 2023, announced their engagement via a post on Instagram.

Folks in the media are already speculating about who could receive an invitation to the wedding.

The Knoxville News Sentinel, for example, suggested that former Tennessee Vols head coach Butch Jones could be invited to the wedding.

Before Jones was the head coach Tennessee (a job he held from 2013 to 2017), he was the head coach at Cincinnati, where he famously coached Kelce.

In 2023, when the news first broke that Kelce and Swift were dating, Jones shared his thoughts on the relationship.

“In terms of Travis and Taylor, I’ll let everyone else talk about that,” said Jones. “I’m focused on UMass.”

“I just know that Travis is very charismatic as we know,” continued Jones. “He’s got a personality and I love him to death — he’s like a son to me. So if she’s good enough for him, she’s good enough for me. So I’ll leave it at that.”

Kelce is one of the greatest tight ends of all time, but he may never have made it to the NFL if not for Jones reinstating him to the Cincinnati football team after serving a year long suspension in 2010.

Jones deserves an invite to the wedding for that decision alone.
