Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided a brief, yet positive update on TE Travis Kelce as the preparation for Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars begins.

Kelce suffered a hyperextended knee late in the practice week ahead of Thursday night's Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions. He was eventually ruled out of the game and he wasn't exactly that close to playing in it

The most recent news on the injury came by the way of FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, who indicated that the Chiefs initially feared the worst about Kelce's injury. He was told the team thought he had a tibial plateau fracture, like the one that cost him his rookie season back in 2013. The report also brought up some concerns about Kelce's status for Week 2.

Right now, everything seems to be tracking for Kelce to have a better shot to play. However, the team will take all the time they possibly need to make that determination.

"I don't have anything to tell you on injuries other than (Travis Kelce)," Chiefs HC Andy Reid said on Monday. "He is getting better. He's progressing. We'll see how he does the rest of today and tomorrow and we'll go from there."

Assuming that the swelling in his knee has gone down enough, how Kelce's knee reacts to any sort of activity will be the key moving forward. If it swells up after some work on Monday and Tuesday, things could be looking bleak at the start of the practice week. On the flip side, if he doesn't see any new swelling, we could see him working as a limited participant in practice as early as Wednesday.
