The Kansas City Chiefs already miss one of their better players after he sustained an injury.

On Sunday, Kadarius Toney tweaked his knee. On Tuesday, we were informed by Andy Reid that he had minor surgery on the knee. He is expected to be out until Week 1 and possibly longer.

Coming into 2023, Toney is supposed to be the Chief's wide receiver. Matt Nagy, Andy Reid, and Patrick Mahomes have been raving about him all offseason long. And he started the offseason in a good spot. But now, the Chiefs will miss him.

"He's just electric man," Travis Kelce told reporters when asked what they miss about Toney. "He's just a high-energy guy. When he gets the ball, he's flying around. He's a hard worker. We will miss KT and his ability to make a play out of nowhere and gain that momentum. He was that piece for us in the Super Bowl. He was that piece for us throughout the season last year and, you know, just getting that thing right.

"We got all the confidence in the world in our training staff here to get him ready either by season or early on in the season. We got our fingers crossed, and we will get him back as soon as possible. And it's just, you know, letting him heal up, and we'll take care of the load until he gets back. KT ain't going anywhere. We miss that guy already."

Toney brings that speed factor the Chiefs miss having with Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman. He is slower than those guys, but he is still fast. Toney is more of a "quick" guy, whereas he can change direction like no other player in the league.

The third-year receiver will be a big YAC guy or Yards After the Catch. He can make people miss after catching the ball, as he did so often last season. Not only that, but the Chiefs will also miss him in the return game.

Toney had one of the biggest punt returns in Chiefs history last season in the Super Bowl. We saw how bad the special teams were when he wasn't receiving punts.

One of the worst things about this injury is how much time Toney will miss. He already doesn't know the playbook as much as most because h was traded to the Chiefs last season at the deadline, and now he will have to wait to do any football activities.

Either way, the Chiefs will be fine. Will they miss Toney? Yes. However, their receiver room is one of the deeper ones they have had in some time. Now guys like Rashee Rice and Justyn Ross are getting more snaps.

Toney, who has a history of injuries, is still tough. Now you can only hope he returns quickly because the Chiefs will still need him in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions.
