The Kansas City Chiefs won their third game of the 2025 NFL season, advancing to a .500 record with the 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions on “Sunday Night Football.”

The Chiefs addressed one of their most glaring personnel problems from their Week 5 loss to the Jaguars, and it’s no surprise that the game’s outcome changed. They still have a few things to work out as they determine the best 11 players on the field on a given snap, both on offense and defense, but we’re starting to see a few trends begin to take shape.

Below you’ll find analysis and a look at how the snaps played out in Week 6. Snap data via the NFL Game Stats & Information System.

Nohl Williams bounces back with his biggest defensive snap total of 2025

Fans were irate after the Week 5 loss to the Jaguars after they learned that rookie CB Nohl Williams played just four defensive snaps in the game. Steve Spagnuolo stated that it was simply a matter of the personnel groupings they were using and had nothing to do with Williams’ performance, which had been stellar up to that point. Sure enough, Williams saw more opportunities to see the field in Week 6.

Chiefs CB Nohl Williams’ Defensive Snap Quick Facts

  • Week 1: 0
  • Week 2: 8
  • Week 3: 19
  • Week 4: 20
  • Week 5: 4
  • Week 6: 21

Williams has allowed just six receptions for 25 yards on the season, with two pass breakups in 72 total defensive snaps.

Tyquan Thornton played his fewest offensive snaps of the season for the Chiefs

Are things changing for one of the Chiefs’ surprise standout players? Thornton played just 17 offensive snaps in Week 6 against the Lions, being held targetless and without a catch for the first time this season. In Week 3, he capped out at 55 offensive snaps. In Week 4, he had his previous low snap count at 25 snaps. Will Thornton’s snaps on offense continue to trend in this direction when Rashee Rice returns to action? It certainly seems like a possibility. The big surprise here is that Thornton also played zero special teams snaps on Sunday night.

Isiah Pacheco is emerging as the team’s lead back, but will it last?

After struggling to get back to himself after his 2024 injury, it appears that Isiah Pacheco is back to being the team’s most trusted running back. Pacheco earned a higher percentage of snaps in Week 6 against the Lions than in any other week during the 2025 NFL season to this point. He outsnapped Kareem Hunt by 30 snaps and Brashard Smith by 43 snaps. Will this workload last for Pacheco, or was it strictly a case of the Chiefs riding the perceived hot hand at running back? With reports that Kansas City is in the market to trade for a running back, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Other quick-hitting Chiefs snap count observations:

  • Chamarri Conner played 100% of the defensive snaps for the fifth time this season.
  • Omarr Norman-Lott played just 11 snaps in his first week back after a shoulder injury kept him out against the Jags.
  • In his first game active this season, Hunter Nourzad played just five special teams snaps.
