The Kansas City Chiefs just can't catch a break when it comes to wide receiver injuries.

After a 33-yard punt return to set the offense up around midfield, Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman appeared hurt on the Tampa Bay sideline. The Buccaneers' athletic training staff started tending to Hardman immediately. He was able to pop up and run to the Chiefs' sideline, holding his right shoulder.

Hardman was evaluated briefly by the Chiefs' trainers on the sideline before he left the field for the locker room, presumably to get X-rays on his shoulder. He was seen walking back to the locker room grimacing due to the injury.

The Chiefs are already dangerously thin at the wide receiver position with WRs Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, and Skyy Moore on injured reserve, plus WR JuJu Smith-Schuster out with a hamstring injury. An extended absence could mean that Dave Toub has to get creative at the punt returner position on special teams. The Chiefs did not elevate WR Montrell Washington this week, instead opting for Justyn Ross

The team has just four healthy wide receivers available with Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, and Justyn Ross. We'll see if Hardman can return, but for now, it appears that the Chiefs will have to deal with another injury to the WR corps.
