Dallas Police are currently seeking Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice as they investigate a major vehicle accident that took place on a Dallas, Texas expressway on Saturday evening.
According to Dallas PD officials, a car registered to or leased by Rice was involved in a crash on Saturday evening. His level of involvement is currently unknown as the police investigation continues, but he is suspected of being one of the drivers of the vehicles involved in the crash.
Rice, 23, grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and attended Southern Methodist University. He was a second-round draft pick in the 2023 NFL draft by Kansas City.
What we currently know about the crash:
Around 6:20 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 30, Dallas Police were called to a multi-vehicle accident on the northbound lanes of the North Central Expressway.
Preliminary investigations determined that two drivers were speeding in the far-left lane, one driving a Corvette and another driving a Lamborghini. The drivers lost control and the Lamborghini traveled onto the shoulder, hitting the center median before causing a chain collision with up to six total vehicles.
The occupants of the Lamborghini and the Corvette fled the scene without providing their information or checking on others involved in the accident, per Dallas Police. Neither driver of those vehicles has been identified, but Rice is suspected of being the driver of the Corvette according to a Dallas Police call sheet obtained by the Dallas Morning News.
Four people were treated for minor injuries, two on scene by Dallas Fire and Rescue, and two others were transported for treatment at a local hospital.
Here is the WFAA news report on the crash:
The traffic camera seen in this report should help in identifying the drivers of both the Lamborghini and the Corvette.
The latest on Chiefs WR Rashee Rice:
Rice has been in the Dallas, Texas area recently, training alongside teammates Patrick Mahomes and Marquise "Hollywood" Brown.
As of 9:20 a.m. CT on Sunday, March 31, Rice has not been booked by Dallas PD or charged in connection to the crash.
If Rice was one of the occupants or driver of a vehicle involved in the crash, leaving the scene of an accident in Dallas, Texas can range from a Class C Misdemeanor to a Third-Degree Felony charge.
Rice will be subject to the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, the extent of which will be dependent on the outcome of this situation.
