Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice has been booked and processed by the Glenn Heights Texas Police Department, according to multiple reports. He was briefly jailed in DeSoto, Texas before he posted a 40K bond per WFAA.
This comes after Rice, via his attorney Royce West, admitted his part in a six-vehicle accident in the Dallas, Texas area on March 30. Four people suffered injuries in the accident, and six people occupying the two vehicles connected to Rice fled the scene. A warrant was issued for Rice's arrest on Wednesday.
Rice, 23, was driving a rental Lamborghini in the accident. He faces eight total charges initially, including felony charges of aggravated assault and collision involving serious bodily injury. He also faces six total counts of collision involving injury. SMU WR/CB Theodore "Teddy" Knox, who is believed to have been driving Rice's Corvette, is also facing the same criminal charges. Southern Methodist University announced on Thursday that the team had suspended Knox.
Rice has cooperated in full with the police investigation into the accident. He continues to show remorse and take responsibility for his part in the crash.
The next steps include an arraignment, which has yet to be scheduled as of this time.
