Being a rookie receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs is a challenging thing. Most likely, they will come in and have a ton of success because of how elite and dynamic the offense is. Wrong. That seldom happens in an Andy Reid offense.

A huge reason is that this offense has so much to learn. This is one of the most complex offenses we have ever seen. Rookies won't come in and just immediately learn everything. Non-rookies can't do that, as we saw with Kadarius Toney last season.

For now sophomore receiver Skyy Moore there were a bunch of highs and lows in his rookie season, as we all saw. Moore struggled at times, specifically at the beginning of the season, but still ended up doing something everyone wants – scoring a touchdown in the Super Bowl.

"Last season, I would say, was definitely a rollercoaster for me as far as my confidence level [is concerned], and that definitely sent me off on a good, high note," Moore told reporters. "I feel like on top of knowing what to correct and going off with the Super Bowl and everything we did last year; it was the best way to go out into this season."

Only some people get to score a touchdown in the Super Bowl. Only some people get to score a touchdown in the regular season, as he still needs to. But he made one of the biggest touchdowns in franchise history.

Now he is taking what he did at the end of the season and looking for ways to improve.

"Just doing the same thing I've been doing, just taking it day by day," Moore continued. "Whatever role they want me to do, do it to the best of my ability and help the team."

Moore was great at catching the ball when it was thrown his way last season. Per Pro Football Focus, Moore had just one drop on 32 total targets. Moore also had a knack for doing some impressive things with the ball in his hands.

But there is always room for improvement. We know he wasn't the best at fielding punts, but even on the receiving side of things, he could be better.

"It's hard to explain, but all the little things that Pat wants," Moore said. "Coming out of breaks or when to look or when to be there, what speed to run it at. You know, the little details of being a receiver. I feel like I knew what I needed to improve on — I found that out early in the season last year — and I've been waiting on the offseason for a long time because I knew what to correct…

"I feel like last year was knowing the playbook and everything," Moore said. "Now, I'm going to give it my best shot, and then next year, I'll worry about personal goals and everything. I just want to give it my best shot this year and do anything the team needs me to do."

The second season for Moore could be huge. We know the Chiefs decided not to bring in a WR1 so far, and they feel comfortable with what they currently have.

The way things are shaping up, Kadarius Toney will be the WR1, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Skyy Moore will be the next two receivers. Of course, that could change.

Moore will have an opportunity to show that the Chiefs made the right decision to draft him in the second round of the 2022 draft. I think they did. Moore could have a breakout season in 2023.
