We've got a new update on the situation surrounding Kansas City Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy's arrest

Worthy got into trouble on Friday night when he was booked in Williamson County, Texas, near Austin, Texas, where He attended the University of Texas.

A police report surfaced around 8:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, March 8, via FOX 26 Houston's Will Kunkell. According to the police report, Worthy was charged with assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation. He was not given a bond, and no court date was scheduled on the booking document.

The latest updates on Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy's arrest

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero has since contacted the Chiefs and the NFL to gather statements on the incident.

The NFL released the following statement, “We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club.”

The Chiefs said, “We are aware and gathering information."

We also now have a statement from Worthy's attorneys, Sam Bassett and Chip Lewis, which condemns the allegations against Worthy as baseless.

"We are aware of the allegation that led to Mr. Worthy's arrest. We are working with law enforcement in Williamson County to ensure they have the benefit of the totality of circumstances that led to this allegation.

The complainant was recently asked to vacate Mr. Worthy's residence upon discovery of her infidelity. She has refused to do so and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy.

We will continue to cooperate with the Williamson County authorities as we have full faith that their thorough investigation will support Mr. Worthy's innocence."

While the complainant is not explicitly named in the statement, one can surmise that it is Worthy's fiancée, Tia Jones. The two bought a home in the Austin, Texas, area last July, shortly after they were engaged.

Worthy's lawyers made additional comments on the situation, claiming there is photographic evidence to support Worthy.

We'll see how Worthy's situation plays out, but this certainly isn't the start to the 2025 NFL offseason that Chiefs fans were hoping for regarding the promising 21-year-old wide receiver. Depending on the league's investigation outcome, he'll face scrutiny under the NFL's personal conduct policy and a potential suspension in 2025.
