The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best defensive players in the entire NFL. As if having the best player in the league in Patrick Mahomes and the greatest tight end of all time in Travis Kelce wasn't enough, they somehow have managed to develop Chris Jones into something special.
If you ask me, who may be a bit biased because I watch the Chiefs more than any other team? he is the best defensive tackle in the league. You can say Aaron Donald is, but he had a down year last season. Chris Jones, who missed all of the preseason and training camp, hasn't missed a step.
He is on track for a Defensive Player of the Year season and might do it. The offseason drama was a lot, but his play so far this season is pretty much backing up everything. He is a beast, to say the least.
But there is still one question. What happens after this season?
"Things happen for the betterment," Chris Jones told the media on Wednesday when asked about his long-term status with the Chiefs. "So, whether I'm here from years over or this is my last year, I'm completely grateful for it, and we are just going to continue to make sure we win a ring."
Jones re-signed for a one-year deal this offseason, so there is a very big chance he enters free agency this summer. If he were to do that, it would kill and crush Chiefs fans. I mean, the guy won two Super Bowls in Kansas City.
We can't really get too deep into it right now because the season is still so early. However, you better believe the conversation will be had as soon as that final whistle blows.
Bills’ Josh Allen gets high praise from Chiefs’ Chris Jones
The Buffalo Bills franchise quarterback landed at number eight on the NFL Top 100 players. Kansas City Chiefs DT had a surprising message about Josh Allen.
