Colts designate former Chiefs starter to return from injured reserve ahead of Week 12 matchup in Kansas City
The Chiefs are going to be playing a familiar face against the Colts with Charvarius Ward returning from IR.
On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs will face a familiar face in Indianapolis Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward, who was a standout CB for the Chiefs some time ago. Ward has also had plenty of great battles against the Chiefs, including the last Super Bowl the Chiefs won against the San Francisco 49ers.
Before that game, Ward mentioned that San Francisco was better than Kansas City. After the game, he may no longer have felt that way. Now, Ward is on the Colts but is returning from Injured Reserve. When he was placed on IR, Ward was PFF’s second-highest rated cornerback in the league. He’s played four games this season and has three pass deflections.
Indianapolis has to be happy they’re getting Ward back, especially considering the pairing they will have with him and Sauce Gardner.
The Chiefs need to win vs. Indy badly
The Chiefs desperately need a win on Sunday against the Colts, one of the better teams in the AFC. Winning this game and the rest of their games is crucial for the Chiefs if they want to secure a playoff spot.
The Chiefs have looked lackadaisical, coming out flat in games and just not having that same fight we’ve come to expect every single game. Now, it feels like this team is just going through the motions, but maybe a little too much. Indy, having the combination of Gardner and Ward, surely won’t benefit the Chiefs, who have struggled to push the ball downfield.
Despite Indy being a good team, the Chiefs must use this home opportunity to get their offense and defense back on track. This team is far too talented on paper and has an excellent coaching staff to be as bad as they are. Oh, yeah, and they have the best quarterback in the NFL.
Sunday could be a make-or-break game.
