A former member of the Kansas City Chiefs finds himself “missing training camp” as he remains a free agent after spending time with the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings during the 2024 NFL season.

Kelvin Joseph, 25, signed a reserve/future deal with the Chiefs back in January of 2024 and spent the entire 2024 offseason with Kansas City. The former second-round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys was one of the standouts of training camp and the preseason for the Chiefs last year, making his way into many final 53-man roster predictions. However, he didn’t make it through final roster cuts.

Joseph took to X (formerly Twitter) to reminisce on his 2024 NFL offseason with the team, sharing some clips of him making plays from practices last year. In the clips, you’ll see him with good coverage against Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, Justyn Ross, and Justin Watson. He even managed to get an interception off of Patrick Mahomes, cutting in front of Rice on a repetition in 7-on-7 drills.

“Missing training camp,” Joseph wrote, followed by football and watery-eyes emojis. “Couple practice clips prolly one of my best camps was being a Chief still got released but I went crazy no cap.”

Now, sharing practice clips on social media might not be the best way to get another audition with Kansas City. He also has some very tragic legal issues that take him out of the equation. It’s hard not to be intrigued by the football of it all, though. He spent time in the UFL with the DC Defenders this spring, recording 38 total tackles en route to a UFL championship with the club. He already knows the system and could elevate the level of competition with the first, second, and third-team defensive units, the latter of which mostly feature undrafted free agents outside of players like Nohl Williams and Joshua Williams.

At the very least, should the Chiefs suffer another injury in the secondary, it’s worth bringing in a veteran player like Joseph in for a workout. Guys like Darius Rush and Eric Scott, who were waived with injury designations and reverted to injured reserve, have been in the system a bit. It has left some inexperience in the team’s depth at cornerback.
