The Kansas City Chiefs have officially lost a trio of their 2024 practice squad players to new teams for the 2025 NFL season.

Former 2023 seventh-round draft pick Nic Jones, 2024 UDFA LB Swayze Bozeman, and former Broncos 2022 fifth-round draft pick Montrell Washington won't return to Kansas City for the 2025 NFL offseason. Jones and Washington head to the New York Giants, while Bozeman heads to the Chicago Bears.

KSHB-TV producer Nick Jacobs shared a screenshot of the league's daily personnel notice for Friday, confirming that the trio of players have found new homes.

Why did these Chiefs practice squad players find new teams?

It's unclear if these players simply sought new opportunities or if Kansas City turned them away. However, it's unsurprising to see Jones and Washington with new teams as they had been replaced in the pecking order at cornerback and return specialist by CB Keith Taylor and WR Nikko Remigio. As for Bozeman, it looked like he'd entered the circle of trust on special teams and defense as a practice squad elevation for the past several weeks during the postseason. Perhaps it has something to do with the changes in the defensive coaching staff that are taking place

This roster move leaves just two players as the only ones left unsigned from the Chiefs' practice squad:

  • LB Cole Christiansen
  • CB Steven Nelson

Here are the practice squad players the Chiefs have re-signed:

  • WR Jason Brownlee
  • S Deon Bush
  • TE Baylor Cupp
  • DT Siaki Ika
  • OT Chukwuebuka Godrick
  • DT Fabien Lovett
  • QB Chris Oladokun
  • WR Justyn Ross
  • CB Darius Rush
  • CB Eric Scott
  • WR Tyquan Thornton
  • TE Anthony Firkser
  • RB Keaontay Ingram
