The biggest insult of the offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs was saved until just before the start of the 2022 season.

Former NFL Pro-Bowl linebacker Bart Scott, who is now an analyst for ESPN, gave his take this week on the Chiefs in 2022 and he didn't hold back.

Scott said he doesn't think the Chiefs make the playoffs in 2022. He also said that there's no fear of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The former Baltimore Raves/New York Jets linebacker also said there's a reason that Andy Reid was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles.

"I don't think they make the playoffs at all," said Scott. "I'm not even trying to be tongue in cheek, I'm not trying to be 'hot-takey' — I just look at the division; I look at the quarterbacks in that division. [There's] no fear of Patrick Mahomes."

"Last year, if the Chargers defense wasn't so bad, they should've beat them twice. They always have a drag-out fight with the Raiders. And now you have Russell Wilson and he's saying 'let's ride', let's see if the Broncos will follow him."

I'm not even sure where to start with Scott's comments.

He's right that the Chargers gave Kansas City a battle in both games. But he's way off base when it comes to the Chiefs and the Raiders — at least when it comes to last season. Kansas City won both games against Las Vegas by a combined 66 points.

Mahomes, by the way, is 12-0 in his career against AFC West teams on the road. He's also a perfect 8-0 against the Denver Broncos in his career.

The comment about Mahomes was pretty bad. The comment about Reid, however, is by far the worst part of what Scott had to say.

Reid has led the Chiefs to six straight division titles. He brought the first Super Bowl to Kansas City since 1969. And Scott wants to talk about Reid getting fired from Philly because of just his third losing season in his coaching career (which spans over two decades)?

That's the most absurd thing I've heard all year (and I've heard a lot of absurd things this year). Reid is an elite head coach. The numbers leave no doubt.

It sounds like Scott has something personal against the Chiefs.

I guess we can just add his name to the list of analysts that Kansas City plans to prove wrong this season.
