The Kansas City Chiefs are getting pulled into some drama with the New York Jets.
After an interview between The Pivot's Ryan Clark and Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman went viral, several former teammates levied some major accusations against the one-time Jets receiver. On Wednesday, Feb. 28 Jets CB Sauce Gardner and TE Kenny Yeboah took to X (Formerly Twitter) to accuse Hardman of treachery. They claim that ahead of his trade to Kansas City, Hardman leaked New York's game plans to opponents:
"He’s tripping out," Yeboah tweeted. "He ain’t talk about his own work ethic and how the Georgia eagles got our game plan."
"We ain't gon talk about how our offensive gameplan got leaked vs. the Eagles tho," Gardner tweeted.

On Thursday, Feb. 29, SNY reporter Connor Hughes wrote that there was "validated belief" from the Jets that Hardman leaked game plans, including ahead of New York's tilt with Kansas City.
It's absurd to think there is truth behind the allegations against Hardman
Hardman seems to have struck a nerve with his former teammates when asked about what went wrong with the Jets last year.
“There's no standard there," Hardman said. "Everybody is doing what they want to do. . . Y’all can’t tell me about winning. I’ve been to four Super Bowls in five years. I know what winning looks like. I know what winning is. Y'all are not doing it right. We got helmets on the ground, we don’t got no discipline. . . it’s too many individual egos in this locker room. . . that’s not gonna get y'all to win.”
It's reasonable for those teammates to be mad or frustrated with Hardman's comments because the truth often hurts. The accusation could make some sense if the box score had reflected it, but the two game plans that he was accused of leaking were among the best offensive performances for New York all season long. Jets QB Zach Wilson had perhaps the best performance of his career against Kansas City. New York also served Philadelphia its first loss of the year.
A friend of the site, Arrowhead Pride's Jared Sapp, brought up a very valid point: If New York truly had any proof of this alleged treachery, Hardman would have been suspended for conduct detrimental and they’d be trying to recoup his signing bonus.
“It’s a laughable and ridiculous allegation," Hardman's agent told NBC Sports.
Hardman is set to hit free agency in just a few weeks when the new league year begins. Chiefs GM Brett Veach mentioned on Tuesday that, under the right circumstances, Hardman could return to Kansas City. It's unclear whether all of this chatter will change their thoughts on that stance.
Should he hit free agency, other teams will do their due diligence on these accusations and determine whether they think anything happened. The reality might simply be that a dysfunctional Jets football team hit its offseason boiling point.
