The Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of 53-man roster cuts, but they'll soon turn their attention to assembling another important facet of the team.

On Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Noon CT, the claiming deadline for recently waived players will have passed and all 32 NFL teams will be permitted to assemble a 16-man practice squad. You might see a few reports come down during roster cuts that teams would like players back on the practice squad, but those transactions cannot become official until the waiver claimed deadline has passed.

Under newly adopted rules, NFL practice squads can include a total of 16 players. Here's a look at the rules regarding the types of players who can be added to the practice squad from our 53-man roster cuts primer:

  • Players who do not have an accrued season (I.E. rookies).

  • Players who were on the active roster for fewer than nine regular-season games during their only accrued season(s).

  • Up to four players per team with no more than two accrued seasons.

  • Up to six players per team with no accrued season limitations (I.E. vested veterans).

The first two types of players can not exceed a total number of 10 of those types.

The Chiefs also get an additional exempt practice squad spot because the AFC West was the division chosen for the International Player Pathway program. Kansas City can use that spot for international OT Jason "Chu" Godrick, and we fully expect them to hang onto him

With all of that in mind, below is an up-to-date list of the Chiefs' reported practice squad additions:
