The Kansas City Chiefs have released an updated version of their depth chart ahead of the divisional round of the playoffs as they get set to travel to Orchard Park, New York to face the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.

We've cautioned all season long that these are to be taken with a grain of salt. They're considered "unofficial" because they are assembled by the team's PR staff and not directly compiled by the coaching staff. These typically accurately reflect roster moves and changes, but they don't always reflect how the team will respond to a situation where roster depth will be called upon during a game.

There is one big change to the depth chart that fans have been calling for all season. This one slipped by us in Week 17 against the Los Angeles Chargers, but it has now been official for the past three weeks. Chiefs rookie WR Rashee Rice is now in one of the team's No. 1 receiver spots.

The rookie began the year slotted behind Kadarius Toney in one of the No. 2 wide receiver spots. It only took 16 weeks of play for the team to realize that Rice was the real deal and deserved to be in the No. 1 spot.

Rice finished the 2023 NFL season with 79 catches for 938 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. That doesn't include the eight receptions for 130 yards and a score that he recorded in the wild-card round against the Miami Dolphins. He's been far and away the best wide receiver for the Chiefs this season with the next closest player at the position (Justin Watson) recording 27 receptions for 460 yards and three touchdowns.

It's a shame that it took the team this long to recognize Rice as the team's top wideout, but he's finally received his due credit as the team advances deeper into the playoffs.
