We are exactly one week away from the NFL’s Nov. 4 trade deadline.

Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has not been shy about making trades during the regular season. In 2024 he acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans for a 2025 fifth-round pick, and defensive end Joshua Uche from the New England Patriots for a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Veach has also acquired WRs Mecole Hardman and Kadarius Toney, as well as DE Melvin Ingram ahead of the trade deadline in previous seasons. With the Chiefs at the center of trade rumors yet again in 2025, owner and CEO Clark Hunt spoke out about the possibility of making another move.

While speaking to the media on Monday, Hunt gave Veach his endorsement to make a move if Veach sees fit to do so (H/T Harold R. Kuntz).

“Brett Veach has been historically aggressive at the trade deadline,” Hunt said. “If he feels we have a need he’s not shy about addressing it and I think that will be true again this year. Obviously an important part of it is where you stand from an injury standpoint. We’ve been pretty fortunate up to this point. We were sad to lose (defensive tackle Omarr) Norman-Lott last week. That definitely hurt us along the defensive line.”

Defensive line and running back are the consensus top two needs for improvement on the Chiefs’ roster. Kansas City’s rushing attack has improved in recent weeks, but depth at defensive line — particularly defensive tackle — remains thin. It may have been inadvertent, but it’s interesting that Clark mentioned the defensive line specifically.

The Chiefs have reportedly been poking around the defensive line market in recent weeks. The New York Jets could be a team to watch, as they may be willing to part with DT Quinnen Williams or DE Jermaine Johnson. Other names to monitor are Jaelan Phillips of the Miami Dolphins, and Calais Campbell of the Arizona Cardinals.
