The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off of their bye week and will look to finish the season stronger than they started it.

At 5-4 the Chiefs are far from out of it, but need to be better during the second half. Their schedule won’t get any easier, which could mean they’ll have to find a way to win plenty of close games.

If that is the case, Kansas City will need the best version of kicker Harrison Butker. Throughout the first month of the season, Butker was struggling — missing at least one kick in each of his first four games. He hasn’t missed one since Week 4, but has only attempted four field goals since then, versus 13 during the first four weeks.

Chiefs ST coordinator Dave Toub believes Harrison Butker has benefitted from the bye week

While speaking to the media on Thursday, Toub stated that Butker had his best practice of the season on Wednesday, and that the bye week was much needed for Butker to reset.

“He’s had a couple good games in a row,” Toub said of Butker. “That’s great. I thought it was his best Wednesday practice. The ball is flying good right now. He does a lot, and I think this break was really good for him because he looked good yesterday. He had two good games, and hopefully has got this thing righted.”

The Chiefs have been much more aggressive, and successful, going for it on fourth downs this year, which takes a little bit of pressure off of Butker. However, Kansas City’s coaching staff will likely remain confident in him given his overall track record. Butker has played a pivotal role in the Chiefs’ dynasty run, and they will need him to come up big some more if they’re going to make another run.
