The Kansas City Chiefs notched their seventh win of the season against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9. It was the perfect way to cap the first half of the season ahead of the team's Week 10 bye week.
There were a few snap-related developments in Frankfurt, Germany that could signal how the Chiefs proceed on offense, defense, and special teams after the bye week. Here’s a look at how the snaps came down in Week 9 followed by some takeaways:

A new leader in wide receiver snaps:
The Chiefs have attacked the wide receiver position by committee most weeks this season, but they changed that strategy after the Week 8 loss to the Denver Broncos. Not only was rookie WR Rashee Rice the leader in snaps at wide receiver, but there was a clear hierarchy with Rice, Justin Watson, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling seeing the majority of the snaps. No other Chiefs wide receiver saw more than 15 snaps.
I'm not certain that this is the "right" group of receivers moving forward. I think it's notable that Skyy Moore's snap count dipped as much as it did. I also think that Kadarius Toney is a player who should probably see more than seven offensive snaps. Outside of Rice, he's the only receiver with true yard-after-catch tackle-breaking ability.
Charles Omenihu's snaps continue to increase:
In each of the three weeks since his return, Omenihu has seen his snaps increase. That culminated in a career-high with Kansas City in Week 9 as Omenihu recorded 46 total snaps, which amounted to over 70% of the defensive snaps for the Chiefs. I think that's probably the area that he'll settle around for the remainder of the season.
He has nine total tackles, a tackle for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a pass batted at the LOS in three games played this season.
Versatile Chiefs secondary:
Steve Spagnuolo continues to find ways to get the versatile pieces in the secondary involved.
Mike Edwards has averaged around 50% of the defensive snaps since Week 4.
Chamarri Conner matched his season-high on defense in Week 9 and set a season-high in special teams snaps (22).
Special teams observations:
Wanya Morris, Nick Allegretti, Lucas Niang, Nic Jones, Cam Jones and Darius Harris played special teams-only snaps this week. Jack Cochrane and Chamarri Conner tied for the team lead in special teams snaps.
